Welcome to the 2025–2026 School Year!

Welcome to Lafayette Elementary, home of the Lions! We proudly serve TK–5th grade students in a close-knit school community along the beautiful Humboldt coast in Eureka, California. At Lafayette, we foster a strong sense of belonging, support every student in reaching their full potential, and celebrate our Lion pride every day.

This year, we’re focusing on academic growth and student engagement—both at school and at home. Our teachers use data to tailor instruction and help each student reach their full potential through high-quality curriculum. We also enrich learning with hands-on field trips and community partnerships that bring lessons to life. At home, families can stay connected by checking out Chromebooks and using online learning tools like IXL and Boost, which support skill building and personalized practice. We’re here to partner with you every step of the way!

We’re also proud to launch our updated school wide behavior expectations, built on the R.O.A.R. framework:
Respect, Ownership, Act Kindly, and Ready to Learn.
These values guide how we learn, interact, and take care of one another across campus. They’re at the heart of the positive, supportive environment we strive to create for every Lion.

There are many ways to get involved at Lafayette—join our School Site Council (SSC), Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), or English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC), and stay in the loop by following us on Facebook. When schools and families work together, incredible things happen.

At Lafayette, we believe in showing up with heart, with purpose, and with a commitment to one another..
Show your heart, show your mind—Lafayette Lions, we ROAR with pride!

Warmly,
Quincy Brownfield
