Dear Lafayette Community,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! I hope that you all have had an enjoyable summer and have taken time to do the things that you most enjoy with family and friends. I am very much looking forward to welcoming all of our learners to campus in a few short days!
As we all know, the last couple of years were unprecedented, especially in the world of education. At Lafayette we are excited to continue resuming many of the activities that have had to be on pause due to the pandemic as well as serve our students in the classroom by providing a rigorous learning experience. Please note the daily schedule for students will be 8:10 am to 2:42 pm with the exception of Mondays for staff collaboration (8:10 am to 1:55pm). You may reference the enclosed bell schedule for start and end times.

The academic school day begins every day at 8:10 AM. We will be bringing back our breakfast service this year and it will be starting the first day of school. The Cafeteria will be open daily starting at 7:30am and the rest of the campus will open for students at 7:50 AM. Breakfast will be served daily until 8:00 AM.
I hope that you will take every opportunity to become involved with our Lafayette School Community, through volunteering in a variety of ways such as: joining our PTA, School Site Council, ELAC, PBIS team, or attending and supporting school events. Please Like Lafayette Elementary on Facebook to receive updates regarding upcoming events. Research clearly supports that when parents/guardians participate and are involved in their child’s education, there is a greater likelihood of academic success for the child. Please also join the Remind App once classroom teachers have shared their new code for this year.
Moving into this new year, we will continue to be flexible and responsive to the needs of our community. As principal, my door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to schedule an appointment with me through our school secretary, to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas you would like to share to help make this the best year yet!
Thank you,
Quincy Brownfield, Principal
