Happy Summer Lions! June 21st, 2022

It is hard to believe the 2021-2022 school year has come to a close but with our awesome 5th grade promotion and our Eureka High School Grad Walk being such a success--it does feel a little more real.  It was a year unlike any other and we appreciate how flexible and patient everyone has been.  Families and students endured many unknowns this year and we appreciate everyone’s willingness to change gears so many times.  I also wanted to recognize our wonderful staff for all of their hardwork and dedication this year!  Your efforts did not go unnoticed--Thank you for being awesome!!

Things will be somewhat quiet in the coming weeks as our custodial staff works to deep clean things and get us ready for a fresh start in the Fall. We will also be outfitting all of our classrooms with new furniture, which will be a big endeavor as well.  It will be exciting to come back in August to clean and refreshed learning spaces.  I am excited to see how beautiful the rooms will look.

As a reminder, the Lafayette Office will be closed from Monday, June 27th to Monday, August 1st.  If you are needing something during those days, you can always call the District Office at (707)441-2400 or send an email to me at [email protected].  Email and voicemail will be checked periodically over the month of July.

As we look ahead to resuming classes in the Fall, we are excited to continue our TK/Pre classroom here at Lafayette in conjunction with Winzler Children’s Center. We also will be adding some new amazing people to our Team, keep an eye out for updates on this coming in my August Welcome Letter.

Later this month, Lafayette will be sending some teachers to AVID training.  AVID is scaffolded support that educators and students need to encourage college and career readiness and success. We are thrilled to be joining in on this amazing opportunity to learn more about the AVID program and bring it to our students next year.  We are also looking forward to being able to continue to offer both music and PE for our Lions next year as well.  There are so many great things in store for students and we hope to see you in August!

As a reminder, Popsicle Postings will happen on the afternoon of Friday, August 19th and the first day of instruction will be Monday, August 22nd.  Have a happy and safe summer break!
